A letter of congratulations from Environment Minister Hon Nick Smith has confirmed that Taupo District Council (TDC) is one of the top performers in a recent survey of local government resource management activities.

TDC rated as one of the top few councils nationally for every indicator in the 2005/2006 survey conducted by the Ministry for the Environment. Council demonstrated that it is giving excellent service to its customers in the resource management act area, particularly with its delivery of resource consents with 94% processed within statutory timeframes.

Environmental Services Group Manager, Gareth Green said “This is a significant increase for TDC from the 2003/2004 survey, especially considering the national average has decreased since then.”

“I am very proud of the team, particularly as Taupo has faced significant growth pressures with unprecedented consent levels and some unique and challenging applications to consider,” he said.

“We will not be resting on our laurels and already we are implementing some new process improvements to ensure we continue improving service to our customers,” said Mr Green.
