Spectacular Tongariro crossing made easier

The dramatic scenery and unique land forms of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing are now more easily accessible through an accommodation package presented via New Zealand Apartments.

Luxurious Oreti Apartments, on the southern shores of Lake Taupo, have a two- night stay inclusive of transfers to and from the Tongariro Crossing track. Accommodation is provided in a loft lakeview apartment and includes two-course evening dinners & continental breakfasts in their new Pukawa Restaurant.

Oreti Apartments are part of the New Zealand Apartments collection and this package is only available through New Zealand Apartments.

The un-guided freedom walk traverses 18.5km of some of the most spectacular scenery and volcanic land forms. It takes approximately 6 – 8 hours. Not only is the walk set within a National Park but the same area holds a dual rating as a World Heritage site, granted for its outstanding natural features and cultural identity.

“We recommend guests arrive later on the first day, enjoy dinner and a relaxing night before taking the trek the next day. By arrangement with the Oreti a full body massage* can be added an awaiting trekkers on their return – a great way to sooth the weary muscles”, adds Anton.

Oreti Apartments is spaciously set out on five acres of lakefront land. If guests are seeking more activity there are two flood-lit tennis courts on site, alternatively they can enjoy the resort spa or visit the nearby geothermal pools. These facilities are includes as part of guests stay at Oreti Apartments.

The all inclusive package is only available through New Zealand Apartments. It is available until April 2011 for $NZD465.00 inc GST per person twin share (min 2 guests). A packed lunch can be provided on request for the additional cost of $20.00 per person.

The recommended time to attempt the Crossing is from mid-October to late April.
