Todd Brix, Senior Director for Mobile Platform Services Product Management at Microsoft has announced that Windows Marketplace will be open for developer submissions in 29 supported countries -including New Zealand- on July 27th. The opening will be marked by a developer contest, the details of which Microsoft will announce closer to the date.

The launch time-frame of the Marketplace for us consumers will be around Spring (NZ) and will be available for Windows Mobile 6.5 enabled smartphones with support for 6.0 and 6.1 to be rolled out by the end of the year.
