Today marks the beginning of Day 1, Flight 3 of the New Zealand Poker Tour Queenstown – SKYCITY Alpine Adventure.
Today sees a similar field to that of yesterday’s Flight 2 with over 30 players heading to the tables to battle their way into Friday’s Day 2 of the tournament.
Twenty-eight of the 36 players from Flight 2 have already qualified for the next round on Friday 24 July.
In yesterdays flight, both sponsored international players Emad Tahtouh and Grant Levy from Australia made it through to Day 2.
The chip leader after the past two days is SKYCITY Queenstown Satellite winner and local player Matthew Yates with $67,050 in chips, which he will take through to Day 2.
Big international names playing today are Eric Assadourian and Celina Lin both from Australia.
Eric Assadourian is one of the new sensations in the poker world and is a highly talented player from Sydney, Australia. He is already marked as one of the best players to come out of Australia.
Players from New Zealand, Australia, United States, Argentina, Canada, Finland, Germany and the Netherlands are competing today, making this tournament a truly international event.
