As the NZPT Queenstown – SKYCITY Alpine Adventure poker tournament hits the half way mark as Flight 3 of Day 1 comes to close, 21 from 33 players have qualified to progress through to Day 2.

From the first three flights 66 players have kept their cool and survived Day 1 to get through to Day 2 which will be held on Friday 24 July.

Celina Lin a big name international player has held her wits to get through today’s tough flight. While other international hopeful Eric Assadourian was taken out only just before the end of the day.

Celina Lin from Melbourne, Australia is excited about the possibilities this tournament brings to the world stage.

“Having a tournament like this in such a beautiful resort, where players can hit the slopes or do some shopping as well as playing poker, makes Queenstown the perfect location.”

Flight 4 of Day 1 is looking to be the biggest of the tournament with over 30 players confirmed so far and entries still open.

In Thursday’s flight New Zealand poker professional Lee ‘Final Table’ Nelson will be taking a seat as well as other kiwi hopefuls such as comedian Mike King, TV personality Brooke Howard-Smith and Dan Sing who placed fourth in last year’s SKYCITY Festival of Poker in Auckland.

Seats are still available for Flight 4 which will take place on Thursday 23 July. See www.skycity.co.nz/poker for more details.
