QUEENSTOWN

The completion of Flight 4 in the NZPT Queenstown – SKYCITY Alpine Adventure poker tournament pushed 26 from 39 players through to Day 2. With all the flights now complete 92 players will participate in Day 2 tomorrow, for a chance to play for part of the total prize pool which is now sitting at over a quarter of a million dollars.

Kiwi player Brooke Howard-Smith found himself having to play a tight game to get through to Day 2. Other Kiwi hopefuls, Mike King and Lee ‘Final Table’ Nelson were eliminated from the tournament within the first two hours of play.

Brooke Howard-Smith is thrilled to be playing another world class tournament in New Zealand.

“Having another poker tournament of this calibre and international flavour in Queenstown is great for poker in New Zealand. The sport will continue to grow in popularity, I’m sure NZPT Queenstown – SKYCITY Alpine Adventure will become one of the worlds great poker fixtures.”

Play for Day 2 will commence at 12:30pm determining who will go through to the final table.

Professional players playing tomorrow include Emad Tahtouh, Grant Levy, Celina Lin and Tony Hachem. Kiwi players including Brooke Howard-Smith, Dan Sing and Radio Sport host D’Arcy Waldegrave will be playing against the pros hoping to knock one of them out.

The next big event on the New Zealand poker calendar is the SKYCITY Festival of Poker which is held at SKYCITY Auckland from 14-18 October. See www.skycity.co.nz/poker for more details.
