Dargaville's new pool complex will be rocking to the sounds of some great New Zealand bands on Saturday 19 September, thanks to a unique concert, In the Deep End, being held to celebrate and support the project.

Top New Zealand band Midnight Youth are set to front a stellar line up which includes local Northland bands Tempest Fujit, Sink or Swim and Auckland’s Diesel Phoenix, fronted by Dargaville-raised Sam Polwart.

"Being able to party in the pool before it is filled and the complex opens is a once in a life-time opportunity. It will be a party of epic proportions, for the young and the young at heart, and allow the community to get out, shake their booty, and celebrate this great project together," says Kaipara District Council’s Community Development Facilitator, Heidi Dreyer.

"The pool floor will be a dance floor, and we are setting up an awesome stage for the bands to play on. Its going to be a big night out, just fantastic."

Headliners Midnight Youth have recently released their debut album The Brave Don't Run, and have toured overseas, including playing shows in New York and at Los Angeles's infamous Viper Room. Their single The Letter has been the number 1 played song on New Zealand radio this year, and has also hit the number one spot on music TV countdowns. Midnight Youth have also played at the acclaimed SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas, and have played with INXS, Incubus, Ok Go, Metro Station and the Veronicas among others.

“They are a kiwi band really going places and it will be great to have them playing their great live set here in Dargaville,” says Kauri Coast Community Pool Trust Chairman Vern Stevens.

Tickets to the pool party concert go on sale Wednesday 19 August are only $30.00 and are available at Ticketek, and Forum North. For those unable to access Ticketek and Forum North, tickets can be paid for in cash at the Dargaville Library and they will order them.

"It will be easy for our neighbours in Whangarei to attend, as buses will be picking up people from the Whangarei i-Site and taking them to and from the concert for only $15.00,” says Mrs Dreyer.

"It will be a pool party on a massive scale and Dargaville will just be buzzing. I think it is an event that people will be talking about for years to come. Get your tickets now don’t miss out."
