New Heights for Return of Big Air!

The locals have been talking and it’s true!

Speights Summit has been confirmed as the naming rights sponsor for the return of Canterbury’s biggest end-of-winter snow event, the 2009 Speights Summit Methven Big Air.

Saturday 26 September 2009 sees Methven and The Blue Pub play host to some of the top skiers and snowboarders in the country and from around the world.

The Speights Summit Methven Big Air is never short of action as ski and board daredevils pull off huge air from the 16 metre-high floodlit ramp and kicker covered in 60 cubic metres of specially-imported Mt Hutt snow.

And the winter’s biggest Big Air is complemented by FMX antics, fireworks and a host of New Zealand music talent.

New Zealand’s ultimate fanatic FMX riders will be stopping by. Look out for their backflips, superman seat grabs, kiss of deaths, holy grabs, turn-downs and more death-defying stunts.

The FMX riders give you insane displays of jaw-dropping FMX action that most people would have only ever seen on TV.

An array of other sponsors joins Speights Summit at this year’s event, including Mt Hutt, Vodka Smirnoff, The Blue and Brown Pubs, Montana Wines, Fahey Fencing, The Rock and X Box.360.

The Speights Summit Methven Big Air 2009 kicks off the Methven Spring Festival, which sees a series of community and family events, concluding with the renowned “Peak to Pub” race on Saturday 3rd October.
