Lawrence fire appliance donated to vintage club

BALCLUTHA

Clutha District Council has decommissioned its Lawrence-based 1961 Land Rover Fire Appliance from active rural fire service and donated the vehicle to the Tuapeka Vintage Club.

The vehicle has been housed at the Lawrence Volunteer Station, but will now be on public display at the Vintage Club buildings.

Lawrence-Tuapeka Ward Councillor Geoff Blackmore officially handed over the vehicle as the club opened an extension to its buildings on Sunday.

Council maintains rural fire plant and equipment at various locations throughout the district. These are managed by the local volunteer brigades are used as part of their normal fire callouts.

Council still maintains an Isuzu 4WD fire tanker with a 6,500 litre capacity at the Lawrence Volunteer Station.
