Council renews chief executives contract

Whakatane District Council has renewed Diane Turner’s contract as Chief Executive for a further two years.

Whakatane Mayor Colin Holmes says the renewal of the contract is a vote of confidence by the Council in Diane’s achievement and capability as Chief Executive since her appointment.

“She took up the position at a particularly difficult time for the Council and has worked through significant issues to build a much higher quality organisation today.”
“Councillors look forward to continuing progress in delivering value to the community with Diane’s leadership of the management team and staff.”

Mr Holmes said while there is still a lot to be done, he believes the community is aware the organisation has made a lot of progress under Ms Turner over the last three years

Diane Turner joined the Council 26 years ago and she became the first female Chief Executive of the Council in August 2006.
