Citizenship ceremony held at Great Lake Centre

His Worship the Mayor Rick Cooper swore in 30 new citizens to New Zealand at an official citizenship ceremony at the Great Lake Centre on Wednesday.
Traditionally preceded in the Council Chambers, the group of new citizens was so large that the ceremony needed to be moved to the Great Lake Centre. The new citizens were awarded a citizenship certificate and a morning tea was held following the ceremony to mark the occasion.
Mayor Rick Cooper said “It is a great honour to welcome fresh faces to the district, its fantastic to see the district grow, not just by population, but in the diversity and richness of its culture.”
