DARGAVILLE

Party-goers at Dargaville’s fantastic “In the Deep End,” concert on Saturday 19 September can either rock with the crowd in the new pool or watch the action below from the elevated spectator seating.

“Most people will probably want the atmosphere in the pool but for anyone wanting a different view or to be more comfortable we have ‘corporate pond’ seating on the bleachers directly opposite the stage” says Community Development Facilitator Heidi Dreyer who is organising the unique event for Kaipara District Council and the Kauri Coast Community Pool Trust.

Heidi says the excitement is growing as the chance to enjoy four hours of music from four top bands fronted by Midnight Youth, in a unique setting draws near. Midnight Youth has already been booked for an interview on More FM on Monday 14 September.

Tickets costing $30.00 are available from the Ticketek website www.ticketek.co.nz or 0800 TICKETEK (8425 3835) or at Forum North in Whangarei while Dargaville Library will also obtain them for customers on a pre-pay basis.

However, organisers have introduced other options to ensure that everyone who wants to attend can get tickets. These include having gate sales, for cash only, available on the night. Also, to make it easier for whole families, organisers are offering a special family concession of $100.00 for two adults and up to three school children. These can be arranged through Heidi Dreyer on telephone 021 583 104.

To ensure safety on the big night, concert areas will be fenced to keep people away from the construction and areas around the pool are being prepared to accommodate the expected big crowd.

Entry will be through a gateway at the Carrington Street (western) end of the site and Carrington, Gordon and Onslow Streets, adjacent to Selwyn Park, will be closed to all traffic and parking will be from 6.00pm. There will be no parking in Jervois Street next to the park. Drinks and food will be available from stalls on the site.

“It’s shaping up to be a fantastic event, Heidi says. “Tickets are limited but there is definitely no truth in rumours that they are sold out. Get yours and enjoy a once-only chance to hear top bands in a unique setting for a very reasonable price. In addition to a great night out you will be helping raise money for our new pool.”
