New Zealand Cricket has advised that pace bowler Iain O'Brien has been called in to the BLACKCAPS squad for the remainder of the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa, replacing the injured Daryl Tuffey.

The replacement was approved by the ICC on Wednesday. O'Brien is expected to arrive in Johannesburg on Thursday morning [1 October] local time.

O'Brien has been playing for his County side Leicestershire in England since playing in the BLACKCAPS' recent Test series in Sri Lanka. He has played 10 One Day Internationals, taking 14 wickets at an average of 34.85. His most recent appearance in an ODI was against India at Auckland in March.

New Zealand is scheduled to play the second semifinal of the Champions Trophy on Saturday [3 October] against the second qualifier from Group A.
