In mid-October a section of Broadlands Road will be temporarily closed to allow a 250 tonne crane to lift the concrete bridge beams into place for the new Broadlands Road bridge.

The two lane bridge which will be 22 metres long, will include on and off ramps which provide access to and from the ETA to Broadlands Road.

The section of Broadlands Road which will be affected is south of the Taupo Landfill entrance and east of Miro Street which will be closed from 6.00pm Wednesday 14 October through until the afternoon of Saturday 17 October 2009.

Some intermittent daytime closures will be required the following week commencing 19 October, and as the work is weather dependant, the week of the 27 October will be utilised if required.

A detour will be in place via Centennial Drive and Tauhara Road during the closure. Broadlands Road traffic wishing to head south or access the Taupo CBD will need to use the detour route via Centennial Drive and Tauhara Road. North bound traffic heading to Rotorua via Broadlands Road will also need to use Centennial Drive. (See map attached).

Local residents and businesses situated within the road closure will have authorised access to their premises during the closures.

The entrance to the Landfill will not be affected during the closure.
