Following the news over the much publicised Bartle case ruling over their dispute with GE, EUFA are once again calling on the Government to take urgent action to freeze recovery action while the SFO and other authorities investigate BlueChip and their associated parties.

Wednesday’s news of the decision leaves the door open to Victims to sue against advisors and lawyers but with the court process being so choked it will let recovery action prevail prematurely.

BlueChip Victims have waited for the Bartle case for well over a year and now face the uncertainty of their future more than ever. Many people cannot afford to continue or begin funding legal action and will be forced from their homes.

The Legal Aid system, which is under review, will not provide adequate funding to those who have a right to defend their positions against the Property Law Act process. EUFA believe that the government has an obligation to provide protection and find a solution for this crisis.

Every person has a natural right to justice. New Zealand provides all street criminals with legal representation. Many BlueChip investors are victims of white collar crime, loan documents were altered once they were signed and loans were obtained in an obscure way. Lies were told about the investments. The Government has a duty to not differentiate between the victims of two types of crime. .

Coordinator of EUFA, Suzanne Edmonds, said from Tauranga;

“The Government are discriminating against the elderly, by failing to provide legal services, when they cannot defend themselves and this is a breach of human rights and I am seeing evidence that the failure to protect these individuals is actually inhumane.”

The Government have come out recently attacking the legal profession, and the court system. They are reviewing the legal Aid system, knowing it is flawed, yet they ignore the victims of BlueChip ...

Under the Bill of Rights the Government must act.
