GISBORNE

Tane Wallis (Piha) and Grace Spiers (WGM) have taken out the prestigious Under 16 divisions at the first event of the Rip Curl GromSearch for 2009. The heavens opened at Makorori Beach today (Saturday 4th October) drenching the full car park of spectators to the bone.

The Rip Curl GromSearch is a two event series that hunts out the best young surfers in New Zealand. The next event is being held at Piha Beach from the 5-6 December. The first and second place getters in the Under 16 Boys and Girls Divisions receive invites into the national final which is held in conjunction with the Rip Curl Pro in February 2010.
