Newspaper retracts match-fixing story
Yesterday a number of news outlets worldwide, including several in New Zealand, reported a story sourced from the Ahmedabad Mirror, claiming that the ICC Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) was investigating possible match-fixing arising from Pakistan's loss to New Zealand in the semi-final of the ICC Champion's Trophy.
The ICC has today advised that the story is untrue and entirely unfounded. The newspaper in question, and journalist Tapan Joshi, have undertaken to print a retraction.
