Yealands Estate has appointed Peter Mann to the newly-created role of Operations and Sustainability Manager based at the winery in Awatere Valley, Marlborough.

Peter will be responsible for driving the sustainability platform including the sustainable winegrowers certification and the carboNZerocertTM programme at Yealands Estate – one of the world’s leading sustainable wineries. As well as this Peter will manage the winery maintenance, capital projects and bottling.

Peter’s expertise is in engineering, having gained extensive experience in the gas, mining and dairy industries before entering the wine industry in 2005 to join Pernod Ricard as Engineering Manager of Brancott Winery.

After leaving Pernod Ricard, Peter spent the next two years project managing the design and build of the Yealands Estate Winery for Apollo Projects.

“It was an exciting and innovative time being involved in a green field site with the mandate to build the most energy efficient sustainable winery in New Zealand,” says Peter.

After completion, Peter couldn’t resist accepting the offer to join the Yealands team in his current role.

“While building the Yealands Winery I saw a fantastic facility, a group of talented driven people, and leadership with vision and purpose, so when Peter Yealands asked me to come on board I couldn’t refuse.”
