Hamish's Porfile:

Hamish was born in Christchurch and completed a degree in agriculture from Lincoln University and then spent 10 years in agricultural commerce within New Zealand and internationally; before shifting to Marlborough to grow grapes in 1978.

The wine industry was in its early exciting years, and Hamish became Chairman of the grape growers association for 7 years and was instrumental with others in starting the concept of the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival; being Chairman of the organising committee for 4 years.

One of his most memorable achievements was winning the 1994 Air New Zealand trophy for best Sauvignon blanc wine; the grapes were gown in his vineyard and the wine made by a wine company he was part owner of.

With a great passion for the Top of the South Island, the sea and sailing and while still growing grapes, Hamish with a partner owned and operated a luxury charter boat business out of Picton for many years.

However the sea was in his blood and after 20 years the vineyard was sold and he departed on a Pacific adventure with his sailing yacht Te Anau.

Coming back to earth in 2003, Hamish returned to Marlborough and began a career in real estate, specialising in vineyards, wineries, commercial businesses / properties, and coastal properties.

Hamish has a great love and appreciation of the “ top of the south “ , as a regular visitor to Golden Bay, Tasman Bay, Nelson and the Sounds, by land and sea; he understands the real attraction of the area.

As an avid skier he is often seen on the slopes of Rainbow, Lyford and Hutt. He is getting a little slower these days, his children wait for him now; but he still enjoys the opportunity to live in a region that offers such a diverse range of leisure attractions.

As the " top of the south" Tourism, Hospitality & Leisure Business Broker, Hamish is keen to make buying and selling businesses and real estate a pleasant experience for both buyer and seller and to use his considerable knowledge of the area to promote and advise.
