Ex- A1GP Team New Zealand racing driver Matt Halliday will rejoin the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Championship for thefinal two rounds being held at the amazing new Yassmarina circuit in Abu Dhabi (UAE) this coming weekend.

Halliday still leads the points standings for the Rookie Trophy segment of the Series which will again be supporting the season ending Formula 1 Grand Prix Championship.

It is a busy week for the Californian based Kiwi who will be testing in New Zealand on Tuesday for the upcoming Battery Town Porsche GT3 Challenge Cup before heading to the Middle East.

At the conclusion of the Porsche Supercup races,he will return to New Zealand to contest the opening round of the Challenge Cup the following weekend.

Although he commenced his Porsche Supercup campaign with Dutch based Jetstream Motorsport he will compete in Abu Dhabi with top German outfit MRS Motorsport under Team Principal Karsten Molitor.

Thecar he will be driving is a 2008 model Porsche GT3 997owing to the late negotiation and signing for the PorscheSupercup season finale:“After a great start to the season with Jetstream Motorsport it was a shame the Team’s campaign was halted by sponsorship problems beyond our control.

However, two podium placings in the opening roundsand some other good results enabled us to lead theRookie Standings going into the final weekend”.

“I am grateful for the opportunity Marcel and Renato at Jetstream gave me and also to Karsten at MRS for the opportunity to do the closing races.

Thanks are also due to the Giltraps and Porsche for their continued support in making thishappen” said Halliday earlier this week.

This weekend’s programme sees the Porsche Qualifying and Race 1 take place on Saturday afternoon with Race 2 set torun early on Sunday afternoon immediately before the season ending Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix
