For Cambridge driver Nick Ross a new package and new engineer is expected to go a long way towards some more top ten finishes in the new season of the BNT V8s.

The 2009-10 season which begins this weekend at Pukekohe Park Raceway promises to be a continuation of the Concept Motorsport team's increasing success in the series, especially that of last year.

"We have a new engine package and a new engineer on board this year in the form of Mike Anderson." he says.

Last year the car just got faster and faster as the season progressed with Ross able to battle for top ten finishes and some impressive qualification times to boot.

This year's pre season testing has shown the car is already strong and with some new ideas coming from proven engineer Anderson, Ross is optimistic ahead of the first round this weekend.

"We have had some good testing sessions with the car and apart from some small teething problems the car has performed well and all looks good for the first round and a good season." he says.

This weekend's opening round of the BNT V8s at Pukekohe Park Raceway sees the start of a new two day format with practice and qualifying all held on Saturday and all of the three races to be held on Sunday.

"It should be pretty good but if you have an accident in a race it will make it difficult to get the car ready in time for the next one."

The new format is due to an exciting new era for the BNT V8s where the races are being broadcast live on TV3 giving more people the opportunity to catch the action of New Zealand's top motor racing class.

As well as being good for the punters it will also make sponsorship a lot more attractive with a higher profile available to those who take the opportunity to support teams like Nick Ross and Concept Motorsport.

"Once people see the value of the TV coverage I think it will be very good in terms of sponsorship for us." he says.

Ross and the Concept Motorsport team are happy to be entering the 2009-10 season with some regular and supportive sponsors including Total Lubricants, ENZED, Porter Hire, Stingray Marine and AutoTrail.

And the team are expecting a great season with what promises to be a very competitive package which also includes the reintroduction of the newer of their two Commodore chassis.

The chassis has been rebuilt over the off season after extensive damage was sustained in a major pile up at Pukekohe in the second round of last season forcing them to revert back to the older unit for the remaining races.

Leading into this weekend at Pukekohe Park Raceway, with a good engine, quick chassis and a skilled engineer on board Ross has a clear goal set for the opening round.

"To qualify inside the top ten. That would be a good start to our season." he says.

This weekend's action begins at Pukekohe Park Raceway with practice sessions and qualification shoot-out on Saturday the 7th November with three sprint races all held on Sunday the 8th.
