DANNEVIRKE

Accolades poured in when Dannevirke based sheet metal engineering company Metalform scooped the pool at the Westpac Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce Business Awards in Hastings last week.
Metalform scored the trifecta with its export pediatric Ezi rider wheelchair picking up the premiere Westpac Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce top business award along with the Export Hawke’s Bay award and the Pan Pac Forest Products Large Business award.

In the three different business areas Metalform was praised for its “clearly evident design and innovation”, for being “leaders not followers” and for the “strong design lead culture throughout the business”.

Staff take pride in a track record of design excellence and innovation with the ability to engineer tailor-made solutions for customers.

Convenor of judging Rick Cranswick said the company had been “incredibly successful in the current economic environment and was taking on the world”.

Metalform’s general manager Allan Benbow was “stunned” when he realised the company had won all three major awards.

Even earlier last week there had been enquiries from the United States, Malawi and Africa.
The awards were an opportunity for the company to lift its profile further, he said.

Metalform is a four generation business founded by the Easton family of Dannevirke.

Designing the town clock and street furniture for Dannevirke’s recently refurbished High St is a local example of the company’s skills.

Tararua mayor Maureen Reynolds who was present at the awards evening said the company was a significant business in Tararua and the district would be proud of its achievement.
