James & Wells Intellectual Property was awarded the ‘Team Factors Intellectual Property Law Award’ at the2009 New Zealand Law Awards held in Auckland last night.

The awards are the only awards in New Zealand that reward excellence in client service by law firms and barristers as judged by their clients. Winners represent the cream of the legal profession.

The Team Factors Intellectual Property Law Award recognises excellence in service to a firm possessing specialist experience in advising across a broad range of intellectual property law and practice issues. Partner, Kate Wilson, said winning the award is especially gratifying because the nomination and voting was performed by the firm’s clients.

“The partners and staff at James & Wells are so honoured by this award because it’s a big tick from our clients that we are creating value for them in their businesses. It’s basically acknowledging us as the best intellectual property law firm in New Zealand and we’re really excited to get that recognition. “

James & Wells has a great client base and we have close relationships with them. Our people work really hard to focus our services on clients’ needs – rather than their wants – and it’s been rewarding when we help them achieve their business goals.

“I’d just like to say thank you to our clients for recognising the work we do for them, and thank you to our staff who do such a wonderful job,” said Mrs Wilson.

James & Wells was also a finalist in the ‘Legal Personnel Employer of Choice’ category. This award gives credit to those firms with a workplace culture that recognises the importance of work-life balance and a healthy working environment.

James & Wells is a boutique intellectual property law firm, with patent attorneys, trade mark specialists and intellectual property lawyers all working within the company.

The firm started out in Hamilton in 1979 and has expanded over the years, starting offices right across the country in Auckland, Christchurch and Tauranga. For more information on the awards, visit http://www.lawawards.co.nz/. For information on James & Wells, visit www.jaws.co.nz
