The marine and yacht clothing lines from iconic brand Line 7 will now be represented internationally by Events Clothing Ltd, the well-known supplier of superyacht uniform, marine and corporate clothing, in a new exclusive deal.

Events Clothing director Owen Rutter says he’s delighted that the new owner of the Line 7 brand, Charles Parsons (NZ) Ltd, has confirmed the appointment of Events Clothing as the exclusive distributor of Line 7 marine and yachting apparel in all markets outside New Zealand and Australia.

Events Clothing will also continue its business-to-business provision of Line 7 products in the Australasian market under the terms of the new agreement.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for Events Clothing,” says Rutter. “We have sourced Line 7 products for our customers around the world for many years – in fact, the technical capabilities and design of Line 7 marine and leisure garments have often been at the heart of Events Clothing’s success in our core markets.

“To now be appointed as the exclusive supplier of Line 7 marine and yachting garments in all markets outside New Zealand and Australia allows us to offer existing clients ongoing continuity of supply. The deal also opens up a raft of opportunities for us with new clients and new markets, as well as allowing us to continue our direct business relationships in New Zealand and Australia.”

Peter Allard, managing director of Charles Parsons (NZ) Ltd says that he and his colleagues at Charles Parsons are very pleased to have reached a mutually-acceptable agreement with Events Clothing in such a short timeframe.

“The deal enables continuity of supply to Line7’s many existing marine industry customers,” notes Allard. “Interestingly, our negotiations around this agreement have identified numerous synergies between the two companies; we also recognise Events Clothing are highly specialised experts in their field.”

Rutter adds: “The team at Charles Parsons has moved quickly since they bought 100 per cent of the intellectual property related to Line7’s brand and all its registered trademarks in October this year.

“Along with the Events Clothing appointment, Charles Parsons have already started working on new technical ranges and will continue to develop the credibility of the Line 7 brand. The technical expertise of both Line 7 and Charles Parsons is undoubtedly world-class and we are very much looking forward to working with them to develop new product lines.

“We could not have found a better partner in Charles Parsons,” says Rutter. “They are experts at sourcing top quality textiles and garments for specific purposes, so combined with our knowledge of what clients want, we all believe a lot can be achieved with the Line 7 brand. There is a great deal of mutual goodwill and a genuine desire to work together, so the whole partnership has exciting potential.”

The Events Clothing team heads to METS, the marine equipment trade show in Amsterdam running from 17 to 19 November, and will be promoting the renewed link with Line 7 at the world’s biggest marine equipment show.

“Events Clothing will also continue our strong presence in New Zealand, promoting Line 7 lines at key marine events such as the Auckland International Boat Show, International Regatta’s and through industry organisations like NZ Marine. Essentially, the message is that Line 7 is back in the market.”

Plans for Line 7’s availability through retail outlets in New Zealand and Australia are still being finalised by Charles Parsons.
