Premier Lady (2yo chestnut filly - Eltawaasul x Blowfish Baby) raced in her first Listed race on 14 November - the $45,000 Welcome Stakes in Christchurch. Meeting the strongest field yet in her short career she put in a very strong late charge to finish second by a short neck to the winner Encosta Diablo.

Racing in the Paul Harris colours she got away well at the start and looked was given a great ride by jockey Michael Walker. She demonstrated that she was still a bit green when she refused to take a gap that opened up for her and so Walker was forced to take her wide and it was here that she lost a couple of lengths on the Encosta horse which she couldn't quite make up.

You can see video footage of her race here http://www.youtube.com/user/PremierRacingClubNZ

Premier Lady's race was a huge thrill for more than 25 of the Premier Racing Club's members who were on course to see her and no doubt most other members around New Zealand and Australia were tuned in to see her as well.

She will now have a short break before resuming her training and her next big target will be a start in the Group Two Wakefield Stakes in Wellington this January. Here she will meet the best two year olds in the country over 1200m and will have another chance to show us how good she is.

There is still an opportunity to get involved too - an annual membership to the Premier Racing Club is just $249, making it the best value Racehorse Ownership experience available. Check out www.premierracingclub.co.nz for more information.
