'Sparkly' Sky Tower To Be Lit Tomorrow Night

Tomorrow night (1 December) the result of SKYCITY’s ‘Light me up! Auckland Choice to Light Sky Tower this Festive Season’ will illuminate Auckland’s iconic landmark, the Sky Tower and remain lit throughout December.

The winning combination will light the Sky Tower with a green base and silver, red and green flashes, giving it a ‘sparkly’ look.

Visitors to SKYCITY have, during the last two weeks of November, voted on their favourite combination with the winning combination looking very much like a traditionally decorated Christmas tree with Christmas lights. The winner, drawn from the winning combination colour votes, will officially ‘hit the switch’ tomorrow night in a celebratory lighting ceremony.

This festive season is the first Aucklanders have had the chance to make their choice for the Sky Tower lighting from 1-31 December and the first time that it will show ‘special effects’ that have only been possible since the installation of new technology earlier this year. Sophisticated LED lighting will be responsible for the ‘flashing’ on the top half of the Sky Tower which will look like twinkly Christmas lights atop the green base.
