Retail Sales figures released yesterday by Statistics New Zealand show an encouraging rise in turnover in the Cafe and Restaurant sector.
Total retail sales for Cafes and Restaurants for the month of October were $345 million dollars. This was up 12.37%, or $38m, on the previous month. Compared to the same period last year, the figures for October 2009 were up 8.15%, or $26m stronger than 2008.
This trend echoes Client feedback received by Tourism Properties' Specialist Hospitality Business Brokers. Many Restaurant and Cafe operators are reporting some improvement in their trading numbers, with some experiencing better pre-Christmas demand than the same period last year.
