Kashi Leuchs to race 2010 Coppermine Epic

Kashi Leuchs has just announced he will race at the 2010 Coppermine Epic Mountain bike race in Nelson.

Leuchs, has represented New Zealand in Mountain biking at 3 Olympic games (2000, 2004 and 2008) and 2 Commonwealth Games (2002 and 2006). Leuchs also won the marathon event of the 2006 Mountain Bike world cup.

A fellow former Olympian and current national club time trial champion Robin Reid has also just signed on the for the Coppermine. Reid has raced the Coppermine in 2007 and 2008 with a 3rd place being his best so far. Reid has the experience of a home track and knowing the demanding course, he is also in cycling form having had a strong year back on the bike and currently preparing to defend his 2008 title in the Armstrong Prestige Festival of Cycling on the 4th of December .

Golden bays Lisa Savage is set to make a return to defend her 2009 woman’s title but will be chased hard by Blenheims Harriet Harper who has a wealth of experience with Downhill and BMX racing and could be a strong contender to take the winners jersey off Savage.

The Coppermine mountain bike race is held next year on the 20th of February 2010 in Nelson.
