While most of Franklin is relaxing and enjoying the summer holiday period, Franklin District Council’s roading contractors will be working hard, taking advantage of the quieter roads and summer weather.

A major construction project for Pukekohe over this period is the construction of a roundabout at the Harris Street and John Street intersection.

Franklin District Council GM Works and Services Barry Bergin says, “This intersection is an extremely busy section of road, especially around school hours due to its location by Pukekohe High School and Pukekohe Intermediate. The installation of a roundabout in this location will improve safety.”

“Approaches to the intersection on Harris Street, John Street and Edinburgh Street leading to the intersection will be closed to traffic for up to four weeks while this work is completed. This is a safety measure and will enable work to progress as quickly as possible while school is out for the holidays.”

All approaches to the intersection will be closed from 7.00am 11 January to 5.00pm 5 February. A detour will be in place along Queen Street, Massey Avenue, Manukau Road and Glasgow Road and will be well signposted. Every effort will be made to complete works earlier than scheduled if possible.

Access to affected properties within the road closure will be available.
