Waikawau Reserve consultation processes signed off
Thames-Coromandel District Council has signed off on three options to put before the public on the future ownership of the Waikawau Reserve.
At the December Council meeting it reconfirmed its desire to take a leadership role in resolving a long standing issue over land taken erroneously from its rightful owners in the 1800s.
The options being put forward by Council are for an advocacy to Central Government role only; revoking the reserve status of the land, or promoting a local Bill.
All three options will be outlined in full along with the history in the draft 2010-2011 Annual Plan as a Ten Year Plan Amendment and public submissions will be invited then.
