Thames pool to get new state-of-the-art wood burner heating system
Thames Centennial Pool is about to get a new $320,000 wood-fired heating system to replace the current electric heat pumps that have proven to be ineffective in the middle of winter.
The good news for ratepayers is that most of the cost of the upgrade is being met by a $70,000 grant from the Energy Efficiency Conservation Agency (EECA) and a $250,000 Crown Energy Efficiency Loan.
The change to wood fuel is also expected to produce lower running costs.
