Resignation of Deputy Mayor of Taupo

Councillor Christine McElwee has this morning resigned her position as Deputy Mayor of the Taupo District, but will continue her role as a Councillor for the district.

Her resignation has been received by Taupo District Council CEO Rob Williams. His Worship Mayor Rick Cooper has accepted the resignation in an open letter to all Councillors.

Council is scheduled to meet again in February 2010, when they will decide upon a replacement.
