Round two started on Thursday 15th January with Northern Districts and Auckland declaring on formidable totals of 377 for seven and 348 for seven respectively, with Wellington bowled out for 239.

Friday was a total wash out so a rest day was taken with play resuming today. Unfortunately, intermittent rain meant play was started late and finished early with all teams sharing two points.

The Northern District total against Canterbury was set up by a superb 123 by Henry Cooper. Cooper’s inning included 17 fours and came of 201 balls. Canterbury bowler Theo Van Woekrom was on song for the second match in a row, taking five for 132 after sneering seven wickets against Otago in round one.

A number of the Wellington batsmen got starts without anyone kicking on to get a big score against Otago. Henry Walsh’s 39 was the top score. Otago all rounder Gregor Croudis completed a fine all round match taking three for 72 with the ball and scoring 41 not out with the bat.

Auckland batsman Simon Middleton was the stand out performer of round two, striking an unbeaten 210 off only 218 balls against Central Districts. He hit 30 boundaries and batted for over four hours to reach the milestone. Central batsman Ben Hitchcock made 47of their 90 runs before play was stopped.
