The Queenstown Gardens duck pond is about to receive a bit of a face lift with work starting this week to reinstate the rock edging.

“Over the years, rock edging around the pond has started to erode, making it a bit ugly and in places causing a few potential safety issues,” Queenstown Lakes District Council parks manager Gordon Bailey said.

“The new and improved rock edging will have more safe places to feed the ducks and the bog plants that where there in the early days of the gardens are to be replanted,” he said.

During the project, the water fountain would be turned off and the pond water level slightly lower than usual.
The $40,000 project was expected to take 3 -4 weeks to complete and was part of the long-term beautification programme for the gardens.
