WHAKATANE

Whakatane Police have this morning captured Werimu Rangi HAURAKI, a 34 year old Eastern Bay resident who was wanted for failing to appear on a charge of aggravated burglary, and other burglary charges. He escaped Police apprehension yesterday by diving down a steep cliff.

HAURAKI was captured in a river near Opotiki mid-morning. He is currently being transported from Opotiki to the Whakatane Police Station.

The Acting Area Commander for Eastern Bay of Plenty, Senior Sergeant Tony Jeurissen, says information from members of the public has been invaluable in tracking and apprehending HAURAKI this morning.
