Hawke’s Bay Regional Council asks that farmers managing stock effluent take extra precautions as the ground is saturated and will be for several days.
Irrigation in these conditions could cause direct runoff and pollution of nearby waterways.
Farmers should also be checking levels in their effluent ponds in case of over-topping.
