Strawberry Sound made its debut at the premier Kiwi Golf tournament, the Michael Hill New Zealand Open held on 28th to the 31st January. Although Strawberry Sound had been involved in a technical role with the event from the first outing in 2008, this was the first time a public display and 'Demo Tent' had been used.

"It was a great opportunity for us to be associated with this fantastic event at the Hills," said Queenstown manager Reuben Pearce. Reuben is well acquainted with The Hills, having coordinated the original fit out of the Clubhouse, internationally recognised for its outstanding architecture and idyllic location.

"Many people are familiar with Strawberry Sound and the HiFi brands we carry, and the services we offer. This was a chance for us to bring our expertise to a wider audience." Over 30 LCD or Plasma televisions were supplied to the corporate and official tents and 4 PA systems, including that used by acclaimed singer, Tim Beveridge at the closing celebrations. The stand out was a 103" Panasonic television, weighing over 300kgs with an electrically driven screw lifter, like a mechanics workshop car lift.

Aaron Boyce, HiFi consultant and Home Theatre Designer from Strawberry Sound Christchurch, flew down for the event. "It was great to have some of our Christchurch clients come by our tent, just to touch base and let us know how well their systems were running. It's nice to be recognised- it felt like a reunion"

Strawberry Sound owner, Mike Pearce, also travelled from Dunedin to be at the first public demonstration at The Hills. "We've worked with International Event organiser Tuohys for 3 years now, ensuring the player and corporate tents are wired for sound and vision so no-one misses the action. Our commercial experience and staff knowledge is second to none. From small commercial venues to stadiums our guys are trained and step up to plate, everytime. But I'm here to have fun, play my music and meet our clients in this amazing setting!"
