AUCKLAND

Excited dogs from all around Auckland will be dragging their owners out the door to take part in the fun at the third annual ‘Purina Bark in the Park’ event next month.

The free event will be held at Waiatarua Reserve, 98 Abbots Way, Meadowbank on Sunday 21 March, from 9.00am – 2.00pm and welcomes dogs of all shapes and sizes to have a fun ‘doggy day out’.

Melissa Harland, Brand Manager for Purina, says that encouraging owners to get active and have fun with their dogs is the main reason for the free event, which last year drew attendance from more than 1,500 people.

Tail wagging activities on the day will include:

  • The annual PURINA ONE Jog the Dog fun-run/walk at 10am. Registrations are free and open from 9.00am
  • Free doggie makeovers and a doggie photo with BENEFUL
  • Free PRO PLAN vet advice on extending the life of your dog
  • Free behavioural consultations at the PURINA Tent
  • Let your pooch cool down at the PURINA ONE cooling station
  • Exclusive Purina Bark in the Park deals and specials on PURINA products on the day
  • Competitions, free samples, stalls, prizes and much more!

Ms Harland says that Purina Bark in the Park is also a great opportunity for dog owners to meet each other and make friends while their dogs do.

“For dog owners, there’s nothing more exciting than meeting someone else with the same dog breed, so you can share and compare notes about behaviour and care,” she says.

Lots of fun competitions are run throughout the day, including:

  • Owner / dog look-alike
  • Best dressed
  • Most excitable
  • Waggiest tail

Ms Harland says that the event is also open to prospective pet owners who are looking to welcome a dog into their home.

“It’s a great opportunity to see all the dogs in action,” she says. “We get lots of people coming along to see the different breeds and to get free advice from the Purina experts.”
