Its time for the Annual Northland Field Days and Kaipara District Council will be showcasing Kaipara as a great place to live, work and play. “Coming out of the Trough” is the theme of this year’s field days and Council will be promoting the good and great of Kaipara including the new swimming pool, recreational and social events, the business opportunities and support available to the community and the importance of getting involved.

Mayor Tiller will be opening the Field Days this year and will be on site together with Councillors during the course of the three day event. He encourages members of the community to come along and have a chat with him and Councillors. “This is an opportunity to chat and discuss issues and ideas with myself, Councillors and the team from Council. I want to hear what ideas and initiatives the public have for this great community of ours.”

A community calendar, detailing events being held within the Kaipara throughout the forthcoming year will be on display and copies will be available. If anyone has an event that is not on the calendar they can speak with a member of Council’s team on site and it will be added. The calendar will then be added to Council’s website after the Field Days

District Growth Facilitator, Chris Donohoe, will be on site and is keen to discuss projects and business plans. Chris is keen to meet anyone with a business development idea. “The Kaipara is a great place to do business. I want to help and encourage people that business can develop and grow here. I would love people to come and have a coffee with me at the Field Days – even brainstorming over coffee can generate next steps.”

Community groups with programmes or projects for the district can also come along and speak with members of Council’s team who will have information available about what grants and support schemes Council has available throughout the year. “We want to support those members of the public who are helping our community. The importance of getting involved cannot be overstated” says Emma Smith on behalf of Council.

There is also fun and games for the kids, with a “fishing” competition where kids can fish for free day passes to the swimming pool and chocolate fish. “A day at the Field Days can be a bit long for smaller kids so this gives them a little something just for them”.

So come along and see the team at the Field Days.
