Congratulations to the winners of the Ministry of Health’s breastfeeding competition!
Plunket believes the breastfeeding photo competition has been highly successful in supporting breastfeeding in the community.

“It is amazing to see such support from these mums and their families. This sends very positive messages to all of New Zealand that breastfeeding in public is very natural” says Allison Jamieson, Clinical Advisor.

“Breastfeeding is not always easy for every mother; but with support from family/whanau, friends and health professionals successful breastfeeding is possible for most.”

“This competition highlights the many facets of breastfeeding and how this can be achieved in all aspects of daily life – on the bus, by the sea, anywhere!”

The competition invited women to enter photos of themselves, or their friends, breastfeeding in public locations. Winners from eight regions have been selected by public vote and receive a prize pack and vouchers.

The competition is part of the Ministry of Health’s breastfeeding education initiative, which includes the display around the country of pictures of women breastfeeding.
