The Whakatane District Council is holding open days in Edgecumbe and Matata to discuss a number of community projects with the public.

The Edgecumbe and Rangitaiki flood mitigation and wastewater projects will be up for discussion during an open day at Edgecumbe’s Riverslea Mall on Tuesday March 9. Council staff will be on hand to update the public on the progress of these projects from 11am to 2pm.

Following that staff will be at the Matata Tennis Club on Arawa Street from 3pm to 6pm on March 9 to provide feedback on a number of projects including the Lagoon Promenade draft design, the Waitepuru project, the Matata wastewater scheme, the review of the Matata civil defence emergency plan and the debris detention structure.

“These open days are a great opportunity for council staff to meet with members of the public and discuss these projects one on one,” project manager Barbara Dempsey said. “We’re really interested in getting residents’ feedback on the issues surrounding each of these projects and urge people to drop in to the open days and have a chat with us.”
