Hawke’s Bay Regional Council will be proposing a joint election promotion campaign to electoral officers at the city and district councils.

The Council today decided that it would prefer a localised campaign to encourage Hawke’s Bay people to stand as candidates in the October local government elections, as well as to encourage eligible voters to register and vote.

Council agreed that the Council’s electoral officer, Carol Gilbertson, discuss the idea of a joint promotional campaign with the electoral officers at their regional meeting in June.

Hawke’s Bay Regional Councillors today voted against contributing $10,000 to a national campaign proposed by Local Government New Zealand.
