New calculations by the Asthma Foundation suggest that around 7000 Rotorua adults aged 15 to 64 have asthma.
This week is Asthma Awareness Week and the Asthma Foundation is stressing the huge impact that the illness has on our society.
About 1 in 4 New Zealand kids have asthma and 1 in 6 adults.
Asthma is the leading reason for New Zealand children being hospitalised.
