Members of the public are invited to a free methamphetamine and drug awareness presentation in Paeroa tonight.

The hour-and-a-half presentation is part of a road show that began in Whangamata last month and toured schools throughout the peninsula to rave reviews.

One parent said her teenage son was so affected by the presentation that he has vowed never to give in to pressure to touch "P" and hadn't realised how devastating it is.

The free public evening presentation will be presented by Methcon Group, New Zealand’s only specialist educators in the area of methamphetamine.

Thames-Coromandel Road Safety Coordinator, Ingrid Le Fevre says alcohol and drugs are a high priority for the overall Road Safety 2020 Strategy as well as a focus for the East Waikato area. "Thames-Coromandel is seventh in the country with alcohol and drugs a factor in 22.7 per cent of all local fatal and serious injury crashes," she said.

"The Methcon presentation will give you a comprehensive look into the world of methamphetamine or "P" and will empower you to become more proactive in the prevention of "P," drug and alcohol abuse."

Interested individuals can attend the free community presentation tonight at the Paeroa Memorial Hall, Normanby Road, SH2, Paeroa. The presentation will begin at 6:00pm and no RSVP is required.
