Hawke’s Bay Regional Council will be holding two public information sessions on the proposals to set up a holding company for regional investments.

The sessions are opportunities for the public to get more clarification on how the proposed holding company structure would work. The Council is likely to make a final decision on a proposal in June.

The two sessions are:
· Havelock North Community Centre Seminar Room, Monday 31 May 12.15pm
· Regional Council Chamber, Dalton St, Napier, Monday 31 May 5.15pm

The information sessions will consist of a presentation on the proposed structure, the benefits to Hawke’s Bay, the risks and other Council holding companies working around the country. The presentation was given to a public Council meeting last week by advisor Robert Philpott, and Councillors saw value in repeating this in other public sessions.

The Regional Council’s investments include the Port of Napier Ltd, forestry and potentially the water storage projects.

The Regional Council proposed the concept of establishing a holding company in last year’s Ten Year Plan. The goal is for Council to be more active in the investment portfolio and lining it up with Council’s strategic goals for the benefit of Hawke’s Bay.
