WELLINGTON CITY

The Out Takes: A Reel Queer Film Festival kicks off with a bang tonight at
the Paramount Theatre with its gala screening of feature film, An
Englishman in New York.

Promising entertainment, prizes and flirting opportunities galore, this
evening’s programme will surely be a major highlight of the year’s gay
social calendar and an amazing way to get this year’s festival off to a
fantastic start.

An Englishman in New York starring John Hurt as Quentin Crisp is just one
of the many highlights of this year’s festival. From a world premiere of
a New Zealand made documentary about the creator of the Rocky Horror
Picture Show, to feature films featuring an Athens the tourists don’t get
to see, this year’s Out Takes Film Festival promises to entertain and
delight even the most avid cinema goers.

Simon Fulton, the chief programmer of the Out Takes: A Reel Queer Film
Festival, says this year’s line-up is squarely focussed on quality and
more accessible films.

“This year’s selection is fantastically varied,” says Simon. “We’re
pleased to be showcasing not only the top picks from overseas but many
short films made here in New Zealand. These are stories that need to be
told.”

One of the major highlights of the festival is the Lesbian Gala Event on
Sunday 6th June kicking off at 7pm and showing the American
action-drama-comedy And Then Came Lola.

“Sunday night will be all about adrenaline” says fellow Out Takes
Organiser, Phillipa Gaines. “We will pump up the audience with prizes
ranging from D-Vice party packs to salubrious wine, before the Princes of
Drag perform a power routine.”

The Lesbian Gala Event has sold out before so get in quick and get those
tickets. They’re available from the Paramount Theatre and its website
www.paramount.co.nz.

other feature films go to the Out Takes: A Reel Queer Film Festival

An Englishman In New York gets underway at Paramount Theatre at 7pm
tonight, Thursday 3rd June after a complimentary drink and nibbles for all
ticket holders.
