The international arm of Variety – The Children’s Charity has recognised the phenomenal support of The Warehouse by presenting it with a Variety International Corporate Award.

‘As we celebrate our 20th anniversary of helping sick, disabled and disadvantaged Kiwi kids to reach their full potential, we are delighted to recognise the efforts of The Warehouse, whose involvement with Variety delivered a difference of over $530,000 to our bottom line in 2009,’ said Lorraine Taylor, CEO of Variety – The Children’s Charity in New Zealand.

“Since 2001, The Warehouse, its 86 stores and xx staff have been dedicated supporters of Variety and over the last year, we were fortunate to be selected as the recipient charity for its annual Supplier and Awards Charity Dinner and Christmas Card campaign – in addition, we ran a successful Scratch ‘n’ Win promotion in The Warehouse stores nationwide,” said Ms Taylor, who also received mentoring support from the General Manager of Human Resources at The Warehouse.

“The fundraising opportunities that The Warehouse provides us with allow us to help even more Kiwi kids in need, especially in the current economic environment,” said Ms Taylor.

“The Warehouse has partnered with Variety over the past 9 years, and this is a testament to the compatibility of our organisations, in terms of personality and scale,” said Kim Russell, National Fundraising Manager.

“During this period we have utilised our store network, buying power and the enthusiasm and passion of our team members in stores, to ensure that every campaign we have partnered with Variety is a success. This is measured by the funds raised and the value added to both organisations in terms of recognition and customer support,” she continued.

“The team at Variety is an absolute delight to work with. They are professional and proactive in terms of ensuring the relationship delivers the right combination of public awareness and community spirit.”

The award was presented at the recent Variety World Conference in Los Angeles and accepted by Ms. Russell.

At the Conference, Variety New Zealand supporter Peter Drummond MNZM (Parnell) was also presented with a Presidential Citation from Variety International President Julia Morley and the charity received the ‘Mort Sunshine Award’ for excellence in communication for its 2008/09 Annual Report.
