The Paralympics New Zealand national fundraising campaign “Pin & Win” has proven to be great success with Mark Wardle of Greenhithe the eventual big prize winner.

The Paralympics New Zealand pins were sold throughout New Zealand.with a variety of spot prizes and the big prize of $25,000 or a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer car.

The money raised by the campaign will be used to provide the support to development and high performance athletes to excel and achieve success at the Paralympic Games.

“This innovative campaign has proved to be very successful. We are seeing increasing costs with supporting athletes throughout their high performance campaign and career.

We need to look at sustainable revenue opportunities so that we can continue to support new Zealand athletes to win on the world stage. This initiative also assists in increasing the profile of Paralympic Sport within the local community,” says PNZ Chief Executive, Fiona Pickering.

Wardle purchased his winning pin and win outside a Mitre10 store and was aware of the success of New Zealand Paralympic athletes at the Beijing Paralympics and of Adam Hall the Paralympic skier earlier this year at Vancouver Paralympics. He felt it was a worthy cause to support. Both supporting the community and some remarkable athletes.
