The Queenstown Lakes District Council has appointed Alison Gerry to the position of Queenstown Airport Corporation director.

The appointment follows the retirement, after eight years of service, by accountant Duncan Fea.
“I would like to formally acknowledge the contribution that Duncan has made. He can be proud of his contribution to our district during a time that has seen Queenstown Airport emerge as a highly regarded international airport,” QLDC chief executive Debra Lawson said.

The council was delighted with the calibre of applicants for the vacant position, with 23 received.
“We are very fortunate to have so many talented and highly experienced individuals willing to contribute to the future success of the airport,’ Ms Lawson said.

Ms Gerry, who has a Masters of Applied Finance, has had extensive international experience. She is a director of Kiwibank and Pioneer Generation and is a visiting fellow in corporate treasury risk management for Macquarie University, Sydney.

“I am delighted to accept the opportunity to be involved in the oversight of one of our community’s key strategic assets and I look forward to the challenges ahead.” Ms Gerry said.

“Alison has enjoyed an impressive career which has seen her serve for the likes of Lion Nathan Limited and Lehman Brothers Asia in Australasia, Asia and the UK. I have no doubt she will make a great contribution around the QAC table,” Ms Lawson said.

Ms Gerry’s term of four years as director for QAC commenced on 1 June, 2010.
