TAB punters had mixed fortunes when the All Whites equalised late against Slovakia in their World Cup football match in Rustenburg.

With live betting throughout the game some punters were able to back the draw at $11.00 with just minutes remaining in the match. "We were live betting until the 88th minute and we took a good deal of money on the draw after Slovakia scored", said the TAB's football bookie Gary Pearn.

In the highest turnover game of the tournament so far, many loyal Kiwis backed the All Whites to win and so, according to Pearn, "the draw was a very good result for us".

The biggest individual bet on the All Whites was $1,000 at $8.00 from an Auckland punter. However, the biggest loser in the game was the investor who put $40,000 at just $1.02 on Slovakia in the 87th minute.

The All Whites will be even greater outsiders when they line up against Italy in Nelspruit. The Italians have opened at $1.15, New Zealand at $18.00 and the draw is paying $6.50.
